Sawtell & Macksville was fantastic Ross! Met some great people there and really enjoyed the songs from the TRIBUTARY ALBUM very much. As always the band esp Eric McCusker were fabulous.
It was great to see a lot of young fans there as obviously that means a whole new generation of fans is born to keep your music alive.
I saw that you were playing a corporate gig in Ipswich Qld on 13/12 and knowing that you won't be back here for a while any chance that you might add a gig for the public?
You have a ton of fans here. Hey MADONNA you'd come down wouldn't you?
Cheers Mick

Hey Ross,
Prenounciation is everything!
my precious 2 1/2 year old granddaughter is a huge wiggles fan. Her favourite is "Ego Rock". So we can deal with that on the wiggles dvd, but when she hears "the origial by the master" on the radio "Yai Yai, Yai Yai - it's Ego Rock -Now lsiten" It will never be the same in our family -now forever Ego Rock. Hi Ross,
Caught your show at Revesby Workers last Friday. A real shame that it clashed with the Olympics Opening Ceremony. Should have been more people there. Still, it was a small but very enthusiatic crowd and having Eric with you was an absolute bonus. Hope to catch you again soon.

It was with great anticipation and more than a little apprehension that I put the new Ross Wilson CD "Tributary" into the Player. After all, this is an "acoustic/semi acoustic" collection of many of my favorite songs. "Acoustic" conjures up thoughts of "half done" or "a poor man's version". I decided not to worry, there must be some great "acoustic" versions of other great songs around... hmmm ....nup... cant think of any ! PANIC ! What if Ross has stuffed 'em up ! I decided to bite the bullet and play it before my "musical life" flashed before my eyes. This is what I found. 1. THE FUGITVE KIND. Wait, this is great. A fresh version of an old favorite. "Hi ho, I've got to go"...crisis averted ! There is at least one good song here. 2. COME SAID THE BOY. Again, this is a "classic" and I thought I would be comparing it to the original. No need, it stands on its own as "another" great song.... Then I got to 3. BOM BOM. This favorite has always been happy, fun, innocent. One thing it has NEVER been is "sexy" FORGET THAT ! "SEXY BOM BOM" IS HERE. Its taken on a new life and it rocks ! "BABY DONT YOU KNOW THAT I LOVE YOU SO BOM BOM !" Fantastic ! 4. SEARCHING FOR MY BABY. Traditionally my least favorite Ross Wilson song. Dont get me wrong, I always loved "the guts" of the song (thats a musical term) but there was something about the chorus that never sat right with me. This version fixes that.. With the backing vocals doing the "nagging" bit, it works ! For me its improved the song. 5.HI HONEY HO. PANIC AGAIN ! This song has magical qualities for me, that havn't faded after over 36 years, surely they will be lost in an acoustic version... NO WAY ! This song is very special. 6. COOL WORLD. A slower tempo than the original which really suits the song and shows Ross's vocals in a great light. I prefer this version at the moment, which is a huge statement. Only time will tell if that remains my opinion though. 7. COME BACK AGAIN & 8. ZOOP BOP GOLD CADILLAC ... Both in similar esteem to Hi Honey Ho... and initial "panic" again. "WHAT ARE THOSE FUNNY NOISES DOING WHERE THE GEE-TARS SHOULD BE ?"... However, after a few plays I love them and both have "new" qualities to them. 9. STATE OF THE HEART. A much better song than its ever been given credit for, this version shows up Ross Wilson's vocal skill's just like the original. The song still sends chills down my spine. 10. EAGLE ROCK 1908. Very clever ! Set back in the time where Ross got the inspiration for this masterpiece. The "Australian Anthem" takes on an old time feel and it works. The last 5 songs to me are, appropriatly, the highlight of the album. Especially 11. ALIANS WALK AMONG US. The original EP really rocked and was brilliant. This version remains surprisingly "meaty" ,its one of the best tracks, along with 12. BOY YOUR PARANOID. This sent me straight back to side 4 of my favorite album, "The Last Drive-In Movie Show". YES ! A well produced "studio" version of a classic "live" song.. I never thought that would work because it was the songs "raw" energy that I thought made it work. Obviously I have no idea. Words fail me, this is the Best. 13. BAD OF NAILS & 14. HEARTBREAK HOTEL. The same high standard as all the rest, theres not much else to mention except.. 15. IF YOU EVER COME BACK. Now, this is a new song and what a song ! The more I hear it the more I love it. I cant think of words that will do it justice. Its not in the usual Ross Wilson vein in many ways but it has great words, beautiful music and it makes me feel great.. in that way, its just like a Ross Wilson song.
I realise that I have been comparing this collection to the original versions, which is natural but these are so well done, there is no need to. We now have 2 great versions of all these classics. FOR THIS WE ARE VERY LUCKY.
Mark.

*******************WOO HOO******************BRISBANE ROCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Last night at Royal on the Park one of the best nights of rock and roll entertainment took place. For those who missed it, my sympathies as nothing beat being up close and personal with Ross Wilson and the Urban Legends esp Ross and Eric McCusker who talked and joked with us. Just enough to make it a lounge room atmosphere fans showed how much they loved Ross. Big hi to Jenny, Doug, Christine and Maurice whom we met and will be seeing again whenever Ross is in town.
Madonna trust me no amount of money could compare to the value of last night and I don't think words can really express the fun time that was had by all. I can't even remember the last time I went to a gig where 98% of the audience were up dancing and singing. You missed a night that should never have been missed.
Next time I urge you to beg, steal or borrow if you have to because we cannot get over how differnt this night was to a normal gig and how friendly it all became.
Yes Madonna we had the front row centre table for two so it just doesn't get any better than that - oh yeah it does Ross was staying on our floor and as usual was as warm and friendly to fans as always. Eric was no different so I thank the guys from the bottom of my heart for all their hard work and for caring for their fans so much. We made friends and Mick made a nut of himself on the dance floor and I loved watching him letting go like he was actually young again!
Bring it on again Guys and bring it back to Brisbane! Come back again, We're just crazy about you guys!!
Warrandyte is going to rock tonight!!!!

OK Loretta, I must admit, I am more of a DC fan however Ross' guitar playing is priceless and well worth going to hear. Unforunately it's not going to happen. It was a bit short notice and we have holiday committments (OK my husband would rather see Aust play Iraq - and those tickets would be bought in a flash!) he also says it's too far to drive....wowser! However I did buy his latest CD so am looking forward to that arriving along with Go Bongo. Tell me all about the night. It is an excellent deal and one not to be missed.

Great new CD and good to hear you are getting some mainstream airplay. I flog the CD pretty hard on my community radio program on QBM FM, so I'm one of those left of field shows giving it a good run. Really like what you did to Eagle Rock this time around and the roosier sounds overall are great. All the best in the lead up to your next effort. Any chance of getting to Canberra in the near future? I heard you talking about getting lost here when you were interviewed by Andrew Daddo on ABC radio recently. Jimmy Barnes, Ian Moss, Jon Stevens and James Blundell are all through here in the next few weeks and the shows pull good crowds, so there is an audience here.
All the best

Hi Ross,
You know how disappointed we were that Watsonia was cancelled ( not your fault). Thanks for all the effort you went through in trying to resolve the situation and your very generous offer. Hope you can arrange another gig on the 29th August. If not on the 29th, some time soon after that. We are still coming to Melbourne when one of your Melbourne gigs are on - the tickets are on hold for that. But I am excited we are going to see you at the Royal on the 21st. I would like to request you play some of the tracks on Tributary (if not all)because you did not play anything from Tributary at Greenbank RSL thought the performance was ace; it is sooo great (4.5/ 5 from the Age) (plus some of the old stuff and even the two versions of Eagle Rock. Also please try to fit in Living in the Land of OZ. Not too much to ask LOL.
See you at the Royal with bells on.

Hi Ross
I hoped to see you at Watsonia Melb but when I phoned for tickets, they told me the performance had been cancelled. As we already have tickets to fly down from Brisbane just to see you, I was wondering if this is correct as your site still shows that you are performing at Watsonia RSL. After seeing you perform at Greenbank RSL I am praying that Watsonia have it wrong. PLEASE, PLEASE tell me it isn't true!

G'day Ross,
I had the priviledge of seeing you perform at Basement Discs back in May. I was fortunate to have a chat with you and asked if you - if possible - had the time to record a message for my good mate Tony at Plenty Valley community radio. I'd like to know what I need to supply you with in order for this to happen and I'm only too happy to oblige.I know you're a busy man and time is tight. If needed I can be contacted through my sister's hotmail address. Cheers and many Coolest thanks.

Greetings Ross,
How would you feel about a bunch of Adelaide musos (yes Adelaide!), being a predominantly Mondo Rock cover band ?
See you at the Norwood gig - Rod

Hi Ross,
Just wanted to say how much Julie and I enjoyed the show last night and thanks for taking the time to say hello again after the show. As I've told you before, my favourite thing about you over the years has always been your voice, and last night it was just exceptional. The different sounds you can achieve...every song sounds different, but it's your voice that makes them brilliant to listen too. The new song you are going to cut in the states in September sounded great and I'm hoping that you bring back some more music for us all to buy. I hope you got video footage of the school function to watch when you got home. I forgot to tell you that my eldest at 5 started to learn how to dance to Eagle Rock at school this week. Just the same as I did around 30 odd years ago. Can't wait for you to come back and cross fingers for December with Swift.
Best regards
AF
