Nylon Hair

The folks at Nylon not only keep my curls under control but also worked on my new video clip, have made appearances on Fashion TV cable channel (FTV), & are in high demand for makeup & hair styling at catwalk extravaganzas. Latest coups were being selected to glam up the hair of Lady Gaga's dancers when they toured in Melbourne and attending to my needs at the cover shoot for I Come In Peace, my next album.

Gallins Guitars

I play Gibson guitars exclusively & have a beautiful new sunburst Les Paul Junior which absolutely smokes! My much admired acoustic Gibson guitar is a blonde Emmylou Harris model which has a built in bridge pickup & a volume wheel secreted inside the O-hole - sounds great & looks beautiful - its the one featured in my 'I Come In Peace' video being strummed by Laura Wilde. Neos Kosmos

Its believed that Melbourne, Australia, is the city with the 2nd largest population of Greek people outside of Greece itself (after Chicago). I married into one such family who just happen to run the much-awarded & applauded Greek language newspaper Neos Kosmos. They have Greek slanted news in English too & a brand new good looking & well run website. So don't be a malaka check it out! John McAll's MySpace

John McAll is Ross Wilson & The The Peaceniks' keyboard player. He also plays with funk & jazz combos, is in demand as an MD & arranger & features on some of RW's recordings. The Marngrook Footy Show

Marn (foot) grook (ball). The weekly AFL footy show with an indigenous player bias. Approx 10% of the players in AFL are indigenous Australians & have a dynamic impact on the game. The Marngrook Footy Show is the show that all the other footy show hosts watch! Host Grant Hansen wrote the show's theme song "Its Marngrook" and Ross Wilson sings it every Thursday night at 7:30pm on Foxtel 180 NITV, Impaarja & CH31 (Melb).

"Its Marngrook" is now available on Liberation Records.

RocKwiz

Shot in The Gershwin Room at The Esplanade Hotel this popular SBS music trivia show incorporates some great live music from wildly disparate performers. RW has been a guest twice, most recently on the fantastic 'RocKwiz Salutes The Bowl' special which aired on March 7th & is being prepared for DVD release. Co-hosts Julia Zemiro & Brian Nankervis deserve their own Tonight shows. Hit the link for the video replay of our bit on the night.

Hey Hey It's Saturday

Hey Hey It's Saturday came back...on Wednesday nights...which, if you're a fan of this venerable comedy, music, & variety show, makes perfect sense. Its one of the few major network TV shows left that features live music so we love it - especially as they had us on the 7th July edition for the world premiere live performance of 'I Come In Peace'. Nine Network, Wednesday nights at 7:30pm, winter 2010, til 21st July. They break til October when they'll return on SATURDAY nights.

Spicks & Specks

Wacky music quiz show that demands you can't take yourself seriously if you're a guest. Its ABC's highest rating show & rules Wednesday nights. RW was on the 1st ever show a few years back & is coming up in the 2009 series.

'The Daddy Cool Store' also has Ross Wilson CDs & DVDs, T-shirts, caps, posters, & other related products such as Mondo Rock Primal Park (1978), Mighty Kong All I Wanna Do Is Rock (1973) both on CD for the 1st time ever & The Ross Hannaford Trio's CD is great.

Other Cool Stuff

Tropical Getaway: Go where the Wilson's go, Gili Trawangan, a tiny island off the coast of Lombok, Indonesia. Its a mere 20 minute flight from Bali to Lombok then car & speedboat transfer to Gili T. We've got our own little place (Villa Jepun) at The Beach House, the jumpinest place in the best location & run by friends of ours. When we're not there its rented out to people from all around the world who go to relax, dive at the coral reefs, eat drink & be merry. Motorised transport is banned - you get around by bike or small horse drawn carts called chidomos, walking ain't bad either. All the info you need is at the Beach House website including a glowing review from The New York Times.
National Portrait Gallery: We went to the opening of the National Portrait Gallery in late 2008 & I'm honoured to have 2 items in their collection of myriad Australian luminaries; Tessa Jone's 2005 RW portrait 'Eagle Ross' & Rennie Ellis's 70s shot of Daddy Cool backstage at the Sunbury Music Festival.
Hathouse - cool stuff to wear while you're having chemo: Our friend Caroline experienced what it is like to undergo chemotherapy, lose her hair &, thankfully, recover. While all that was happening she realised there wasn't much in the way of fashionable accessories for others in the same predicament. Well there is now; cool hats, scarves & an everexpanding range to help you look & feel better while waiting for your hair to grow back! Her Hathouse site is really taking off as the word spreads - you could be the next link in the chain - check it out.
Fresh At Elwood: Owned & managed by my ex, Pat Wilson, (that's right, the 'Bop Girl') during the past 10 years Fresh at Elwood has evolved from an organic grocery store into a full-on daytime organic/biodynamic cafe & restaurant. On Sunday there is live music & organic beer on tap for Fresh's unique Texas BBQ.
