Ross Wilson: Lyrics

The Same Moon

Posted on April 8, 2011

THE SAME MOON                        (Ross Wilson & Eric McCusker)  Mushroom Music / Origin Music

In the beginning there was her and me

Making love, sharing dreams

Before we knew it we had ourselves a family

Passed on to the children everything we knew

Learned our own lessons as our babies grew

And everything got bigger & faster than it used to be

Through the trials & tribulations

And through all the transformations

I came to see some things don't change

Its the same moon in the same sky

The same woman holding me as the years roll by

She's got the same eyes, the same smile

The same way of making me feel my life's worthwhile

The Lord gives & the Lord can take

The day she passed away I thought I'd break

Swallowed up by the earth, drowned by a tidal wave

Now with a young girl's little hand in mine

At sundown in the summer time

We walk & lay fresh flowers on my lady's grave

And as the stars light up the heavens

They send a message to the living

It seems to say some things don't change

It’s still the same moon in the same sky

She watches it with me & I can see that she's her grandma's child

She's got the same eyes, the same sly smile

When she's smiling at me I don't know if I should laugh or cry

Yes it’s the same moon in the same old sky

The same light shining on us like a prayer's reply
