The Fugitive Kind - 2008

(Ross Wilson)
10-05-2008
R.Wilson/T.Slavich (Mushroom Music)
The Fugitive Kind was Mondo Rock's 1st single (1978) & made the national Top 30. This semi-acoustic version from the 'Tributary' album cuts out the instrumental filler between verses, reworks the opening theme riff, & changes the 1st line of the chorus from 'oh no' to 'hi ho' for a better rhyming scheme & add to the tone of the narrative.

Hey don't you know well I've been around
From village green to metropolis town
Got no home but I don't mind
Hey don't you know me I'm the fugitive kind

I been North I been South
I been West I been East
Roamin' the land like a savage beast
I left many a man with an axe to grind
I leave my mark I'm the fugitive kind

I say
Hi ho I got to go
Don't ask me to stay cos the answer is no
Its plain to see that your love is blind
Hey don't you know me I'm the fugitive kind

Well you told me you was an outlaw girl
Yeah & if we got together we could take on the world
But outlaw love will never bind
Don't put your trust in the fugitive kind

And I got no past that I would talk about
So don't you ask me questions
I won't ease your doubts
I might make a confession but I would never sign
I follow the laws of the fugitive kind

(solo)

And I warn you now there will come a day
Yeah when I will slip away

I say
Hi ho I got to go
Don't ask me to stay cos the answer is no
Its plain to see that your love is blind
Hey don't you know me I'm the fugitive kind

I say
Hi ho I got to go
Don't ask me to stay cos the answer is no
Its plain to see that your love is blind
Hey don't you know me I'm the fugitive kind
