Come Back Again - 2008

Sums up my feelings as a shy teen boy b4 joining a rock band & discovering that girls liked me better as a lead singer. Although once reviewed positively by a rock music critic as a 'psycho lite' lyric such behaviour would probably now attract a 'stalker' restraining order. This acoustic instrument recording stays true to the original feel but an emotional adjustment is supplied by Gerry Hale's acoustic mandolin reinterpretation of Ross Hannaford's inimitable electric lead guitar lines. Lyrically a couple of verses have been dropped to excise redundancy & give a more linear storyline. The 5th verse is new-ish not appearing on Daddy Cool's 1971 original or any subsequent live recordings.
COME BACK AGAIN

(Mandolin intro)

Mopin’ around the streets late at night
Worried because you ain’t treatin’ me right
Come back again I’m just crazy ‘bout you babe

Spoke to your dad & I spoke to your mum
They said “Go away boy, leave us alone”
Come back again I’m just crazy ‘bout you babe

I went to the dance but I went all alone
I watched you dance & then I followed you home
Come back again I’m just crazy ‘bout you babe

(Mandolin solo x 1)

I really don’t know what to do
Everything you say just makes me feel blue
Come back again I’m just crazy ‘bout you babe

I love you baby with all my soul
Never thought that you would ever go
Come back again I’m just crazy ‘bout you babe

(Repeat intro – followed by mandolin solo )

Mopin’ around the streets late at night
Worried because you ain’t treatin’ me right
Come back again I’m just crazy ‘bout you babe

I really don’t know what to do
Everything you say just makes me feel blue
Come back again I’m just crazy ‘bout you babe

I said come back again I’m just crazy ‘bout you babe
Come back again I’m just crazy ‘bout you babe
